Touchpress is proud to announce that Disney Animated has been awarded a Children’s BAFTA in the Interactive: Adapted category.
Theodore Gray, co-author of the app and Chief Creative Officer, said “It’s fantastic that apps are being recognised for the wealth of content they can deliver. We poured the history of Disney Animation Studios into one app – the trick was finding a way to make the studio’s rich, often complex, history accessible to everyone. We are really honoured to have won a Children’s BAFTA.”
The winners were announced at a ceremony that took place last night at the Roundhouse in Camden where some of the team attended and received the award.
The app is an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ pass to Walt Disney Animated Studios. The concept art, early sketches, explanatory multi-layered clips and interactives unveil the secrets of how animated classics are made. Users of any age can enjoy learning about the history and techniques of animation.
The app was made in partnership with Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Interactive.
In 2013, Apple chose Disney Animated as their iPad App of the Year. The app has also won a Digital Book Award in 2014 and a FutureBook Innovation Award.
