Freshlinc Distribution fit the entire TISS anti-siphon range

Freshlinc, the Spalding based specialist refrigerated distribution company, has recently protected its fleet against fuel theft and diesel spills by purchasing the entire range of TISS’ market-leading fuel security devices.

In addition to the ‘TankSafe’ Impregnable, which completely prevents any siphoning and diesel spills; Freshlinc have also fitted the NEW ‘TankSafe’ Standard, and the recently released ‘Reefer’ anti-siphon designed specifically for fridge tanks.

Andy Marchant, Freshlinc’s Fleet Engineer, commented: “we believe long term investment in fuel efficiency is essential, and we achieve this by preventing fuel theft and hence improving MPGs for our vehicles”. TISS’ ‘Impregnable’ Device has been fitted to the majority of Freshlinc’s fleet.

With rising fuel prices it is unsurprising that the BBC reports a staggering increase in the RAC’s call outs for fuel theft, which in Eastern England alone increased by 85% in 2008. An effective protection against third party fuel theft is therefore crucial and it is the reason why Freshlinc chose to protect its agriculture vehicles with TISS’ NEW Standard anti-siphon, which offers 75% more siphoning protection than the nearest competing anti-siphon, and secure their Refrigerated vehicles with TISS’ ‘Reefer’ anti-siphon. However, fitting TISS’ devices is not just about saving money, it is also about demonstrating responsibility towards society, employees and the environment.

TISS’ ‘Impregnable’ is the only device able to prevent fuel spills, which have caused death or serious injury to 617 road users between 2000 and 2005 costing society a staggering £33,543,280 in 2005 alone. Moreover diesel is the most common type of pollutant of inland waters: flowing directly into sea, lakes and rivers it harms their eco-systems. In addition fuel spilt in commercial and industrial workplaces can potentially cause thousands of major injuries to employees every year.

The life threatening consequences of diesel spills are well known to Mr Marchant, who commented: “Freshlinc’s aim is to focus on customer service applying best Environmental and Ethical practices within a safe, rewarding workplace for our employees”. It is therefore evident how the decision to fit the TISS Impregnable, winner of the British Motorcycle Federation ‘Kill Spills’ award, completely suits FreshLinc’s conscientious corporate responsibility policy.

When asked the reason for choosing TISS, Mr Marchant replied: “my experience with TISS gives me confidence to fit the product. TISS’ service back up is good; the products are well manufactured and are doing a good job within our fleet”.
