Gamesys chooses Metric Gaming for sportsbook launch

Gamesys is to launch its first online sportsbook offering as part of a deal with Las Vegas-based live-betting specialists Metric Gaming.

The two firms are expected to launch bethotshot.com on Friday to coincide with the start of Euro 2016.

“This is an exciting step for Gamesys,” said the firm’s CEO Lee Fenton. “We see tremendous potential in Metric’s technology, and believe our companies‘ visions are aligned for this industry’s future.”

Metric’s SuperLive platform is best known for its ‘flash’ markets such as: “Will there be a throw-in awarded in the next 60 seconds”, but says it has added traditional pre-game and in-game sportsbook content for the Gamesys launch.

Metric, which earned its UK licence in 2015, currently supplies golf odds for BoyleSports and BetStars, but the Gamesys deal marks the first time it will supply a full sportsbook.

The relative inexperience of the two firms in the sector means they will use the bethotshot site as a testing ground before the launch of a separate sportsbook under the Virgin Games brand, which Gamesys acquired in January 2014.

“Gamesys’ track record in the gaming industry speaks for itself,” added Metric’s president Peter Bertilsson. “They themselves build great technology so we are honoured that they recognised the power of our platform to help them enter the sports market.”

Metric also labels itself a mobile-first platform and claims its proprietary personalisation engine optimises the mobile experience by “eliminating the need for superfluous sportsbook content and showing customers only what they want to see”.
