Bac2 basics with conductive filler

UK-based fuel cell materials firm Bac2 has reported an enhancement in conductivity for its patented ElectroPhen polymer. The thermoset resin binds conductive fillers, generally graphite, to make composite bipolar plates for fuel cell applications.
Results of independent trials at Portsmouth University, UK indicated that conductivity has increased tenfold in graphite-filled ElectroPhen, at almost 500 Siemens/cm.
This surpasses the 200 Siemens/cm conductivity target of the US Department of Energy for such substances to produce bipolar plates for fuel cells.
Bac2 plans to commercialize the plates in 2007.
