Firm to get £45,000 for Smart idea

Blackpool firm TISS Ltd has received £45,000 Smart feasibility study award to help turn its newest bright business idea into a marketable product.
TrailerSafe is software developed by TISS Ltd, of Lytham Road, South Shore, to monitor and control alarms on articulated trailers used by hauliers, allowing them to view and respond immediately to any incident of theft from their vehicles.
The TISS trailer alarm prevents illegal immigrants, thieves and terrorists from getting on board trailers – problems which cost the haulage industry over £1bn each year.
Companies who have fitted the TISS alarm have now requested that TISS develop software to allow them to monitor and control the alarms on their vehicles remotely from their office PC.
The software will allow them to view and respond to any incident of theft immediately and catch criminals in the act of breaking in to the trailer by calling police to the scene.
The software will also report on the operational efficiencies of their trailers including journey times, loading times and whether drivers are on or off route.
The TISS team has more than 30 years experience in the haulage industry and has developed the only trailer-specific security devices on the market.
The funding has been provided from the Small Business Service’s Smart Initiative that provides grants to help individuals and small and medium-sized businesses to research and develop technologically innovative products and processes.
