Logistics Companies make savings with TISS

Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Exel, Wincanton and Christian Salvesen are just some of the companies who are making savings by fitting security products from TISS Ltd to their trucks and trailers. TISS have sold over 4,000 of their systems designed to prevent theft of goods and fuel – including anti-siphon systems, GPS tracking, slash-proof curtains, and trailer alarms.
TankSafe is an anti-siphon device that fits in to the neck of a fuel tank to prevent theft of diesel by employees or third parties. Tesco have fitted their whole fleet of 1,900 vehicles with TankSafe and Tesco’s Fleet Engineer, Gary King, commented “the TISS anti-siphon device is a quality product, easy to fit and effective. It has assisted us in improved MPG figures for the fleet.”
Other hauliers are also impressed with the device. Kammac’s Security Manager, Graham Symms, says “since fitting the TISS anti-siphon we’ve had no diesel siphoned from the tanks, saving us £2,000 a month in fuel costs.” Sainsburys, Exel, Christian Salvesen, Britvic, 3663, MAN, DAF and Mercedes have also fitted TankSafe.
Sales Director of TISS, Ryan Wholey, added “diesel costs are rising rapidly making it more attractive to steal. With TankSafe costing from only £64, it only needs to prevent siphoning of ¼ of a tank of diesel to have paid for itself. Its patented “float valve” is especially effective at preventing small amounts of diesel being taken regularly from the tank – which often goes undetected by fuel monitoring systems. Some of our customers have seen a 6% improvement in their MPG figures which is a sizeable saving on their fuel bills.”
TISS also offer a GPS tracking system for cabs and vans which costs only £4 per week per vehicle. The TISS software can track the vehicle live or just record the position ever 10 minutes. The software also displays the location of the whole fleet once a day. NCP Car Parks, RHM Tanks and Reality Home Delivery are using the TISS GPS and Mike Marshall, Head of Security at Reality is pleased with the system; “TISS have provided us with a solution that is tailored to our business needs. Their training, backup and ongoing support have been first class”.
In addition to cab security, TISS can also protect Trailers with a range of Security Systems.
TrailerSafe is an internet based Trailer Tracking system which costs £250 per trailer or only 99p per week. The unit is battery operated which lasts up to 7 years and has no wiring so it can be quickly installed inside the trailer minutes simply by peeling off the adhesive backing. TISS Sales Director, Ryan, adds “you can track your trailers live with this system or you can set it to automatically poll your vehicles hourly, daily or weekly. Since it has no wires, you can also transfer the unit to another vehicle if required at the end of the lease.”
CurtainSafe is a slashproof Kevlar material that stops thieves cutting through the sides of curtainsided trailers. Asda recently fitted 320 trailers with CurtainSafe and Wincanton bought 120 sets. Wincanton Fleet Manager Arthur Baldwin is impressed with the solution “We bought CurtainSafe to protect our clients’ loads and the material is excellent and far superior to chainmail. Since fitting it we’ve had attempted theft but there has been no penetration of the curtains by the thieves. We have now spec’d all our new curtainsiders with CurtainSafe.”
The Commercial Director of TISS, Alex McCracken, says “the CurtainSafe material allows the haulier to give his curtainsiders the security previously only afforded by a box trailer. CurtainSafe can be fitted at newbuild or retrofit to existing curtains at a variety of heights and is lighter than chainmail equivalents – it only adds 15 kg to a standard 13m curtain.” Prices start at £425 per trailer for a 1m high curtain.
LoadSafe is a trailer alarm system with sensors fitted to the doors and the TIR cord. If the sensors are triggered, a 120 decibel alarm, strobe light, and/or a text message to a nominated mobile phone are activated – and the £499 system will also send the location of the vehicle and nature of the alarm to a PC. TISS have recently fit these to Booker Iceland and also to Unitruc to protect their trailers carrying Ferrari Formula 1 cars to Grands Prix round Europe.
No other supplier offers such complete truck and trailer security as TISS. The systems are ideal for companies transporting high value goods, or where there is a real threat of theft or entry by illegal immigrants. Sales Director Ryan adds “Our customers are now demanding that our security devices be fitted to their vehicles as standard. Blue chip manufacturers now set the standards which hauliers must meet, especially those in the mobile phone, computer, and high fashion sectors.”
Investment in any of the TISS products will be recouped within 12 months by preventing theft and increasing operational efficiency. With products costing as little as £4 per month, this can easily be offset through insurance discounts alone. For example, www.truckinsurance.com offer 5% off Fleet and 15% off Goods-in-Transit Insurance premiums provided the customer fits TISS vehicle security systems.
TISS Ltd was formed in 1999 by a team of hauliers with over 30 years experience in the transport industry.
