University of East Anglia Spin‐Out Targets Growth with Receipt of Substantial New Funding, November 2010

Syrinix, the water trunk main monitoring specialist, has secured £575,000 of fresh investment to fund its expansion nationally and internationally.
Based at the world‐class Hethel Engineering Centre near Norwich, Syrinix helps avoid major water mains bursts, preventing significant damage and disruption. Syrinix’s technology includes vibration sensor applications for monitoring trunk water mains so transforming water utilities’ maintenance of these key pipeline assets.‐abating pressure transient detection technology.
Dr Paul Linford, the founder of Syrinix and its Chief Technical Officer, has led the development of the company’s “TrunkMinder” technology. TrunkMinder provides 24/7 monitoring of trunk water mains and notifies utility clients of small leaks appearing in those mains before major bursts occur. After completing trials successfully, and with related products under development, Syrinix is now ready to accelerate its business development in the UK and beyond.
Founded in 2004, Syrinix was initially funded by Iceni Seedcorn Fund LLP and the University of East Anglia (UEA). In 2008, the Company received additional funding from Carbon Connections , a Development Fund operated by the Low Carbon Innovation Centre (LCIC) at UEA, , to support the development of its carbon
The £575,000 new funding has been raised from Iceni, Carbon Connections, the London Business Angels EIS Roundtable Fund (2009) as well as a number of other individual “angel” investors including from the London Business School “Enterprise 100” group.
