Background
Intec Power Holdings Limited was founded in 2000 to further develop, prove and exploit a new means of generating electricity. The ‘Silent Urban Rotational Generator of Electricity’ (SURGE) system captures the natural movement of air that occurs around all buildings – irrespective of the level of natural wind, unlike traditional wind power systems – and converts this into electricity by means of an innovative, highly efficient and patented generator and ducting control system. Excess electricity can be sold to the National Grid. The ARC investment will help fund the initial 12-month Pilot programme, in which the first full-size SURGE unit will be optimised, installed and evaluated by a third party.
