Touch Press set for growth as Sam Aspinall is appointed CEO while Max Whitby
takes new role as Director of Special Projects
Four years after the founders of Touch Press came together to create their ground-breaking iPad
app The Elements, the company is today announcing the appointment of Sam Aspinall to take
over as CEO from Max Whitby. Max will continue to drive innovation at Touch Press as Director of
Special Projects.
Max Whitby says: “I am enormously proud of what we have achieved at Touch Press in our first
four years. I am delighted now to hand the reins to Sam Aspinall as incoming CEO; I am confident
that she will build on our creative excellence and deliver long-term value for our investors.”
Michael Anderson, Chairman of Touch Press, comments: “I have worked with Sam for ten years
and am certain that she will bring dynamic leadership and commercial flair to her new role at
Touch Press.”
Incoming CEO, Sam Aspinall, is currently COO of Touch Press. She has many years of experience
leading rapid-growth businesses. Most recently, she led Mind Gym’s disruption of the corporate
training industry, delivering a tenfold growth in revenue as Commercial Director. As a Chartered
Accountant and MBA, Sam combines commercial acumen and strong management skills with
hands-on appreciation of what makes a great creative business.
Recent months have seen international industry recognition for the London-based app publisher.
In December, Apple chose Disney Animated, developed by Touch Press, as Best iPad App of
2013. In January the company received a Digital Book Award, two Future Book Awards and a
2014 KAPi “Pioneering Team” Award.
Outgoing CEO, Max Whitby, has led Touch Press since he co-founded the business with Theodore
Gray, John Cromie and Stephen Wolfram in 2010. Max has overseen creation of a broad range of
award-winning apps that have collectively been downloaded 7 million times, generating $10
million of gross revenue.
